Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Nursing Associate to join our established community nursing team in Erewash North. This role will provide care for housebound patients in Ilkeston and the surrounding areas.

As a Nursing Associate, you will be responsible for providing community-based individualized care, including long-term condition management, venepuncture, and medication administration. You will also be expected to complete various nursing assessments and follow treatment regimes.

This is a great opportunity for the successful candidate to progress and develop in the role. There may be an opportunity to apply for the Nursing Apprenticeship programme subject to successful completion of the probationary period.

Main Duties of the Job

As a Nursing Associate, you will need to be passionate and enthusiastic about patient care, putting patients at the heart of everything you do. You will work in a multi-professional team and be required to think on the spot and be empathetic.

You will be responsible for working as part of a team and communicating effectively with other staff and patients. You will also have the opportunity to manage your workload on a daily basis, following the guidance of your line manager.

The post holder will be required to have access to a car to complete patient visits in the community and clinical settings.

We employ around 4,200 substantive staff, caring for patients in 11 community hospitals and more than 30 health centres, as well as in clinics, GP practices, schools, care homes, and increasingly, in people's own homes and via virtual consultations.

Education, Qualifications and Training

  • Registered Nursing Associate on the NMC register;
  • Placement experience working within the 4 fields of nursing;

  • Ability to travel in own vehicle across a place;

Experience and Knowledge Required

  • Understand the scope of the role of the Nursing Associate in the context of the team and the organisation, and how the role contributes to service development;
  • Understands and acts in line with the NMC professional standards for practice contained within the code;
  • Understands the importance of following procedures and treatment plans;
  • Experience of working in teams under appropriate supervision as part of the multi-disciplinary team;
  • Knowledge of when to seek advice and escalate to the appropriate professional for expert help and advice;
  • Evidence of receiving complex, sensitive information;

  • Ability to communicate effectively (written, verbal and non-verbal communication) with patients/relatives and carers and all members of the multi-disciplinary team;
  • Ability to organise and prioritise own delegated workload;
