Job Description

This Publishing Data Manager role involves overseeing the management of XML content across various digital platforms. Key responsibilities include ensuring the accuracy and consistency of XML-coded texts, implementing efficient processes for error detection and correction, and adding necessary metadata and taxonomy indexing to enhance discoverability.

Key Tasks
  • Conduct rigorous comparisons between XML-coded texts and their source editions to detect structural and textual discrepancies.
  • Develop and implement systematic automated and manual routines to identify and resolve errors in XML files.
  • Add required metadata and taxonomy indexing to improve the discoverability of XML content.
  • Lead the management of the platform's XML content, encompassing quality assurance, testing, and maintenance.
  • Carry out comprehensive testing of online content across multiple platforms to pinpoint data/platform issues.
  • Provide expert analysis of content and contribute to the development of mark-up guidelines.
  • Coordinate the workflow from conversion to upload for content sets on existing platforms.
Requirements
  • Demonstrated expertise in XML and HTML.
  • Outstanding written English communication skills for diverse audiences.
  • Awareness of editorial issues connected to digital content conversion.
  • Proficiency in XML querying or transformation (xQuery or XSLT).
  • Previous experience with digital editing software, e.g., oXygen, XML Spy, or similar.
  • Familiarity with database or CMS systems.
  • Knowledge of XML content models.
  • Background in publishing, preferably in academic social sciences or humanities.
  • Interest in digital technologies for the publishing industry.
Salary Range

The anticipated annual salary for this position is between £50,000 and £65,000, contingent upon qualifications and experience.
