Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Medical Laboratory Assistant to join our team in Microbiology. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will play a vital role in supporting the Biomedical Scientists in the processing of samples.

Main Responsibilities
  • Perform a wide range of tasks associated with the processing of samples, including sorting, preparation, processing, and handling of blood, urine, tissue, and bodily fluids.
  • Undertake quality assurance procedures, housekeeping duties, maintenance of equipment, and disposal of clinical waste.
  • Support the laboratory team in maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
  • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of laboratory procedures and protocols.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to achieve team goals and objectives.
Requirements
  • GCSEs or equivalent in English and Maths.
  • Ability to work flexibly and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Basic knowledge of IT or relevant IT qualification.
  • Previous experience in a laboratory setting or customer-facing role.
