About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Medical Laboratory Assistant to join our team in the Microbiology laboratory at Royal Derby Hospital. As a Medical Laboratory Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the Biomedical Scientists by performing a wide range of tasks associated with the processing of samples.
Main Responsibilities
- Undertake routine analytical tasks and be responsible for instrument maintenance and housekeeping in line with departmental standard operating procedures.
- Undertake basic clerical duties, including data inputting and phone enquiries, to support sample testing and reporting on the laboratory computer system.
- Organize the regular transport of samples, goods, and post to other sites and laboratories.
- Stock control and maintenance of reagents and consumables in the working environment.
- Adhere to information governance policies, including maintaining standards of confidentiality, security, and safety in line with national and local guidelines.
- Train new starters and act as a role model to ensure that all team members and others visiting the area give a high priority to policies and procedures relating to infection control.
