We are seeking a highly skilled Safeguarding Policy Specialist to join our team at the House of Commons. As a key member of our People & Culture team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the effective implementation and embedding of our updated Safeguarding policy across our varied teams.

The Parliamentary Estate is a mixed-use site, with many different activities involving a wide range of individuals. You will need to work with teams across Parliament to understand these different activities, assess the risks of harm to children and adults at risk, and develop strategies to mitigate them.

Some of the key responsibilities for this role include:

  • Leading the implementation and continuous improvement of the new safeguarding policy, using a risk-based approach to embedding it in parliamentary activities, structures, and culture.
  • Establishing a network of local safeguarding coordinators across parliamentary teams.
  • Providing expert advice and guidance on safeguarding policy and practice within Parliament.
  • Supporting the work of the Safeguarding board, providing briefing, analysis, and recommendations as required.

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

  • Experience of successfully implementing safeguarding policy and guidance in a mixed-use environment.
  • Specialist knowledge of safeguarding relating to children and adults at risk, with a demonstrable understanding of current legislation and best practice.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work across organisational boundaries and teams.
  • Excellent planning and organisation skills, with the ability to meet demand and deadlines.
