**Role Purpose**:
A unique and exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time Safeguarding Specialist to support the Safeguarding Lead at the hospital. You must be able to work under your own initiative to provide specialist advice to all staff disciplines across the hospital and to liaise with external agencies as required.

The safeguarding specialist role will take the lead in identifying training needs and providing this training, up to Level 3, for all hospital staff. The post holder will be flexible in their approach to this training and be able to write and deliver training at the different levels required.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- As a specialist in the safeguarding arena, use your professional judgement to make decisions to guide and advise staff on highly complex situations in often challenging situations.
- Sound clinical reasoning and decision-making skills including risk assessment.
- Provide professional and clinical leadership to the multi-disciplinary teams across the hospital to ensure that health care provided to adults and children is delivered in accordance with national, local and organizational safeguarding policies, procedures and legislation.
- Collaborate with multi agency partners, patients, families, and carers to ensure that safeguarding is personal for adults at risk.
- To ensure that children are kept at the centre of any safeguarding concerns.
- Deputise for the Safeguarding Lead as required.
- Act as a role model to promote and foster a culture of transparency, collaboration and duty of care and candour.

**Who we’re looking for**:

- Ideally training/teaching experience
- Relevant professional registration
- Good knowledge base on safeguarding and relevant legislation
- Has a good understanding of Safeguarding legislation.
- Practical safeguarding experience
- Able to deal with sensitive and complex cases in a compassionate way.
