About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Safeguarding Policy Specialist to join our team at the House of Commons. As a key member of our People & Culture team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the effective implementation and embedding of our updated Safeguarding policy across our varied teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the Implementation of Safeguarding Policy: You will be responsible for leading the roll-out of our updated Safeguarding policy, working closely with teams across Parliament to ensure its effective implementation and embedding.
  • Develop a Network of Safeguarding Coordinators: You will establish a network of local safeguarding coordinators across Parliamentary teams, providing guidance and support to ensure the policy is implemented consistently and effectively.
  • Provide Expert Advice and Guidance: As the lead source of advice and guidance on safeguarding policy and practice within Parliament, you will provide expert briefing, analysis, and recommendations to the Safeguarding board as required.
  • Support the Safeguarding Board: You will work closely with the Safeguarding board to support the development of safeguarding policy and practice, providing expert advice and guidance as needed.
Requirements
  • Experience in Safeguarding Policy Implementation: You will have experience of successfully implementing safeguarding policy and guidance in a mixed-use site with a wide range of activities and stakeholders.
  • Specialist Knowledge of Safeguarding: You will have specialist knowledge of safeguarding relating to children and adults at risk, with a demonstrable understanding of current legislation and best practice.
  • Strong Interpersonal Skills: You will have strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work across organisational boundaries and teams.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: You will have excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly and explain ideas in a way that decision-makers understand and can act on.
