About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Mental Health Practitioner to join our Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) team in Plymouth. This is an exciting opportunity to work with children and young people who present with substance misuse issues and co-morbid mental health presentations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments and develop individualized treatment plans for young people with complex mental health needs.
  • Provide evidence-based interventions, including motivational interviewing and other therapeutic approaches, to support young people in achieving their goals and improving their mental health.
  • Collaborate with other professionals and agencies to ensure seamless transitions and effective care coordination for young people accessing our services.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with young people, their families, and other stakeholders to promote person-centered planning and empower individuals to take control of their mental health.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of evidence-based group programs and interventions to support children and young people with mental health issues.
Requirements
  • Post-registration experience of working with people with complex mental health needs in the community.
  • Experience of working collaboratively with clients and their families/carers to develop and implement treatment plans.
  • Ability to prioritize workload, manage risk, and work effectively under pressure.
  • Culturally competent assessment and intervention skills, with a strong understanding of therapeutic principles and evidence-based practices.
  • Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN), Registered Sick Children's Nurse (RSCN), or Registered Learning Disability Nurse (RN(LD)) with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), or Occupational Therapist/Social Worker with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
