About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual to join our team as a Trainee Educational Mental Health Practitioner. This is an exciting opportunity to work with children and young people, delivering evidence-based early interventions for mental health and wellbeing support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver low-intensity CBT interventions to young people and their families with mild to moderate mental health conditions under the expert supervision of senior staff.
  • Develop and form relationships with key wellbeing staff within schools to promote and provide support in accessing our service.
  • Work collaboratively with the wider MHST team, including parent and community workers, educational psychologists, and engagement officers to develop knowledge in all areas of holistic care.
  • Form links with external agencies to increase knowledge of services available in the area and utilize this knowledge to inform the team and signpost young people.
  • Co-deliver parent workshops to equip parents with tools to manage their children's anxieties and worries.

Person Specification
  • Diploma level qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Proven academic record or previous learning or formal study in Child Development, Well-being, or Mental Health.
  • Good solid basic literacy and numeracy qualifications at a minimum of level 2.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Relevant Degree qualification.
  • Teaching or education-related qualification.
  • Previous experience of working with children and young people and their families in either Health or Education settings.
  • Experience of working with children and young people who have social, emotional, and/or behavioral difficulties.
Skills and Competencies
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to study as a self-motivated learner who can monitor their own progress towards learning objectives.
Knowledge
  • Knowledge of the educational system in England.
  • Knowledge of children and young people gained through academic study in child development, child well-being, or mental health.
