About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced English teacher to lead our English department as Head of Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching all elements of English, including marking and planning sessions for students, as well as strategic oversight of the curriculum.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach all elements of English, including literature, language, and drama
  • Mark and plan sessions for students, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning
  • Lead the English department, providing strategic oversight and direction
  • Develop and implement curriculum plans, ensuring alignment with school goals and objectives
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure effective teaching and learning across the department
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, identifying areas for improvement and developing strategies to address these
  • Contribute to the development of school policies and procedures, ensuring they are aligned with best practice in English education

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Strong subject knowledge in English, including literature, language, and drama
  • Experience of teaching and leading in a secondary school setting
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues, students, and parents
  • Ability to analyze data and evaluate student progress, identifying areas for improvement
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects
