Are you a motivated and experienced Childcare Law Solicitor looking for a new challenge? We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our Legal Services team at Luton Borough Council.

This is a progressive opportunity graded M3-M4, offering the chance to work on a personal legal caseload and develop expertise in childcare and related matters. You will be expected to provide expert legal advice, manage complex cases, and contribute to the smooth running of our legal services.

You will assist the Principal Solicitor (Social Services) in the development of the Social Services Team and carry out special projects. This role requires a strong understanding of English law, particularly Childcare Law. As a Solicitor or Barrister qualified in England, you must hold a current practising certificate and have rights of audience under the relevant paragraphs of the Code of Conduct for Barristers in England and Wales. A working knowledge of the Law of Evidence is also essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert legal advice on childcare and related matters
  • Manage complex cases and contribute to the smooth running of legal services
  • Assist the Principal Solicitor (Social Services) in developing the Social Services Team
  • Carry out special projects and assist with corporate inter-service or inter-departmental projects

Requirements:

  • Degree in Law or equivalent qualification
  • Current practising certificate as a Solicitor or Barrister qualified in England
  • Rights of audience under the relevant paragraphs of the Code of Conduct for Barristers in England and Wales
  • Working knowledge of the Law of Evidence

Salary Range: £45,718 - £51,802 per year plus £3,203 car benefit. The estimated salary for this role is around £48,461 per annum.
