Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, United Kingdom University of Cambridge Full time

Project Overview

The University of Cambridge is seeking a highly motivated PhD researcher to join our team in the Cancer Research UK Cambridge Institute. The successful candidate will work on a project entitled "Immune Hedgehog signalling dynamics in health and disease" under the supervision of Dr Maike de la Roche.

The project aims to shed light on the elusive Hedgehog signalling dynamics and interaction partners within the immune system using chromobody technology, bespoke mouse models, and proximity labelling techniques. The student will work with murine and human immune cells, and the fundamental mechanistic insight gained may inform novel therapeutic entry points into cancer, infection, and autoimmunity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct research on immune Hedgehog signalling dynamics using chromobody technology, bespoke mouse models, and proximity labelling techniques.
  • Work with murine and human immune cells to gain fundamental mechanistic insight.
  • Contribute to the development of novel therapeutic entry points into cancer, infection, and autoimmunity.

Requirements

  • Recent graduates or final-year undergraduates with a First/Upper Second Class degree (or equivalent) in a relevant subject.
  • Excellent research skills and experience in molecular biology, flow cytometry, and immune assays.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Funding

This four-year studentship is funded by Cancer Research UK Cambridge Institute and includes full funding for University fees and a stipend of £21,000 per annum for four years.

Eligibility

We welcome applications from both UK and overseas students.
