Main Responsibilities

The post holder will be a key member in relation to the development of practice in the Neonatal Unit. They will be working independently/autonomously and at times without direct supervision, accountable for their own professional working in a manner that promotes dignity and human rights through the adoption of family centred care principles.

Key duties include:

  • To work with support within a multi-disciplinary team to provide continuing care to a specified group of patients from admission to discharge.
  • To be a safe and effective practitioner able to provide high quality nursing care to patients and support to relatives.
Requirements

We are looking for enthusiastic Band 5 nurses with neonatal experience, who are able to work alongside our highly reputable multidisciplinary team. We also welcome experienced adult intensive care nurses with transferable skills who might be looking to change to a different career pathway.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Registered Nurse (RGN) or RN Child/Adult Registered Nurse with active NMC registration
  • Good understanding of the NMC code of Professional Conduct
  • Able to solve and escalate problems and issues
  • Experience of working in the relevant area i.e., Adult critical care; Emergency department; cardiac intensive care
  • Experience in Neonatal or Paediatric nursing
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing situations
  • Interest to develop knowledge of the clinical specialty and own practice
  • Able to communicate effectively (written and verbal)
  • Specialist neonatal qualification (formally ENB 405)

As a member of our team, you will be offered the opportunity to complete training which includes the Neonatal Advanced Life Support, Neonatal Special Care/High Dependency Course and the Neonatal Intensive Care Course.
