About the Role:

This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity for a Senior Sister/Charge Nurse to take on a leadership role in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. You will be responsible for managing the clinical areas, providing professional development for nursing and support staff, and ensuring compliance with Trust policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Provide expert clinical care to premature and ill newborn babies, utilizing advanced communication and nursing skills.
  2. Resolve patient/parent complaints related to clinical care or operational issues within the area.
  3. Promote effective communication between primary and secondary healthcare providers, as well as non-statutory sectors like Children's Hospices.
  4. Participate in discharge planning from hospital to community services, ensuring a seamless process.
  5. Collaborate with the Neonatal MDT to support transition for babies referred to other inpatient services and provide family support.
  6. Take an active part in MDT ward rounds, discussing each baby's home hospital and arranging early transfers.
  7. Liaise with nurses in charge and consultants to plan timely transfers for babies living locally.
  8. Ensure sensitive patient records are stored securely and follow Trust Information Governance policies.

The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and a deep understanding of neonatal care.

The estimated salary for this role is around £53,000-£73,000 per annum, depending on experience.
