Biomedical Scientist Specialist

The Pathology departments at University Hospitals North Tees and Hartlepool (NTH) and South Tees Hospitals (STH) are collaborating to develop a joint service called Tees Valley Pathology (TVP) with services delivered on all hospital sites.
Main DutiesRotation through all sections within the chosen department will provide candidates with a wide range of experience. The role involves taking a leading role in achieving daily workload targets, requiring effective interpersonal and communication skills. The ability to work efficiently as part of a team and prioritize work to meet strict deadlines is essential.
Key responsibilities include analyzing pathology specimens, providing technically accurate results, and being professionally accountable for the interpretation of patients' results to enable diagnostic and treatment regimes for clinical colleagues. The post holder will also provide specialist knowledge and assistance to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients within their area of responsibility.
About UsSouth Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust offers leadership and improvement training to all new staff to the Trust. This training programme has been designed to support our leaders in developing their understanding of leadership and management skills. The post holder will be expected to attend the leadership development programme and the Quality Improvement Programme that the Trust delivers.
Person SpecificationThe ideal candidate will be HCPC registered, have evidence of continuous professional development (CPD), and hold an IBMS accredited Biomedical science degree, registration portfolio, and a specialist portfolio. Attendance at the leadership and development and improvement programme is desirable, as is an MSc Biomedical Science. The candidate should also have laboratory techniques and Biomedical science relevant to Immunology, as well as relevant legislation and health and safety requirements. Work experience in an accredited pathology laboratory is essential.
