Job Overview
The Microbiology Division at South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is collaborating with University Hospitals North Tees and Hartlepool to establish a unified service known as Tees Valley Pathology.
We invite applications from qualified, motivated HCPC registered Biomedical Scientists who possess the relevant experience, knowledge, and skills to join our scientific team. The successful candidates will contribute to the services offered by Bacteriology and Virology as part of the Tees Valley Pathology Service.
This role may require some flexibility in working across different sites.
Key Responsibilities
The position involves rotation through various sections of the department, providing a comprehensive range of experience. Candidates will play a crucial role in meeting daily workload objectives, necessitating strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Under the guidance of the Microbiology Management team, the post holder will execute routine operations within the Microbiology department, adhering to established methodologies and protocols.
Additionally, the role includes assisting in the training and development of Trainee Biomedical Scientists, Medical Laboratory Assistants, and other staff members in accordance with departmental policies. The post holder is expected to demonstrate a significant degree of autonomy and the ability to work independently for extended periods.

Leadership and Development Training
South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust provides leadership and improvement training for all new staff members. This program is designed to enhance understanding of leadership and management skills within the NHS. Participation in the leadership development program and the Quality Improvement Programme is expected. The objectives of this program include:

- Enhancing leadership effectiveness and skills
- Developing practitioner-level quality improvement skills to lead and implement quality initiatives within your role
Upon completion of this comprehensive training, participants will have the opportunity to pursue further leadership and improvement training, including additional in-house courses and leadership apprenticeships at various levels.
