Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Shift Technician to join our team at Ardagh Metal Packaging. As a Shift Technician, you will be responsible for safely running and maintaining manufacturing equipment to ensure the smooth and continuous operation of the production line.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate can manufacturing equipment to achieve plant KPI targets
  • Maintain equipment in a condition that quality standards are met and downtime is minimized
  • Carry out quality checks and take corrective actions as needed
  • Maximize production and minimize spoilage during the manufacturing process
  • Perform safe repairs to equipment as required
  • Set up checks after maintenance work
  • Report potential problems to the Shift Manager or relevant Department Heads
  • Maintain housekeeping to an exemplary standard and in a safe condition throughout the plant
  • Comply with legal, environmental, and safety requirements
  • Use ancillary equipment, such as fork trucks, to perform production line duties
  • Promote quality improvement and preventative actions
  • Ensure proper and safe systems of working and means of avoiding dangerous conditions

Requirements

Qualifications

5 GCSEs or equivalent, including Maths and English, recognized Time Served Apprenticeship, ONC/HNC Qualification or equivalent

Languages

English written and verbal

Computer Skills/Literacy

Basic Computer Skills

Experience/Attributes

  • Apprenticeship in a Manufacturing Mechanical Engineering discipline
  • Working knowledge of Health and Safety work practices
  • Experience of preventative and planned maintenance on production equipment
  • Experience of working on production machinery
  • Ability to work precisely with strong attention to detail
  • Team player with strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure and organize and prioritize workload
  • Ability to complete paperwork accurately and thoroughly
  • Basic knowledge of quality and hygiene systems
  • Enthusiastic and proactive, goal-oriented approach
  • Maintains technical knowledge by attending training courses as required
