About this role:

Job Summary

As a Train Station Operations Team Member, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our train station.

Main responsibilities:

  • Delivering exceptional customer service
  • Assisting in day-to-day operations of ticket barriers
  • Ensuring customer security and responding to enquiries
  • Inspecting and issuing tickets
  • Addressing customer needs during service disruptions
  • Maintaining a professional appearance of the gateline area
  • Selling tickets via a mobile ticket machine

You'll need to be:

  • Able to deliver exceptional customer service
  • A self-starter with a can-do attitude
  • Confident when making decisions
  • Able to remain calm in crisis situations
  • Able to work to strict procedures

Requirements:

  • Ability to work as part of a team or independently
  • Evidence of numerical ability
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

About the location:

This role is based in Newton Abbot, which is the main station for the South Devon Area. It has good transport links to the surrounding area.

Working pattern:

This part-time role requires shift working, including weekends and bank holidays, covering 7 days a week on a rolling roster pattern. The earliest start is at 0550, and the latest finish is at 2230. This role is for 17.5 hours per week.

Additional information:

Applicants successfully shortlisted will be invited to a competency-based interview. Interviews will take place in the coming weeks. The successful candidate will be required to meet medical standards for this role, together with a drugs and alcohol screen. A Basic DBS is also required.

Training and development:

All new recruits will receive comprehensive training, which will take place in our Training Centre in Swindon. Full travel expenses will be covered, and accommodation will be provided.

Salary:

We offer a competitive salary of £20,000 per annum, plus benefits.
