Job Title: Advanced Pharmacist

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Advanced Pharmacist to join our team at King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our pharmacy team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality clinical pharmacy services to our patients.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will have a strong background in pharmacy practice, with experience in leading and managing clinical pharmacy services. You will be responsible for developing and implementing clinical pharmacy services in Gastroenterology, working closely with our multidisciplinary team to ensure seamless care for our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage clinical pharmacy services in Gastroenterology, working closely with the Principal Pharmacist.
  • Develop and implement clinical pharmacy services to improve patient outcomes and reduce healthcare costs.
  • Provide expert clinical pharmacy advice to healthcare professionals, including junior medical staff and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Supervise and train pharmacy staff at ward level, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to provide high-quality care.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary ward rounds, delivering and promoting high-quality, cost-effective, patient-focused pharmaceutical care.
  • Develop and participate in outpatient clinics to deliver and promote high-quality, cost-effective, patient-focused pharmaceutical care.
  • Act as a specialist role model and an expert in the medical management within Gastroenterology.
  • Develop and implement local guidelines and protocols to ensure consistency and quality in clinical pharmacy services.
Person Specification
  • MPharm (Masters Degree) or equivalent qualification/experience.
  • Registered Pharmacist (1 year competency assessed and examined professional registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council).
  • Postgraduate Diploma in pharmacy practice or equivalent qualification/experience.
  • Specialist clinical knowledge and skills relevant to area of practice.
  • Experience of working with senior healthcare professionals outside of pharmacy.
  • Experience of supervising others.
  • Experience of protocol/guideline development.
  • Experience of multi-disciplinary team working.
  • Ability to provide highly complex information on medicines use, clinical pharmacy, and financial issues to all levels of healthcare professionals.
  • Able to implement and manage change.
  • Ability to work well under pressure by prioritizing and managing time effectively.
  • Registered independent prescriber or willingness to complete.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Able to motivate self and others.
  • Member of the RPS faculty.
  • Demonstration of advanced practice using evidence mapped to the RPS Advanced Practice Framework.
