Job SummaryThe successful candidate will have a strong background in pharmacy practice, with a focus on gastroenterology. You will be responsible for leading and managing clinical pharmacy services, working closely with our multidisciplinary team to ensure seamless care for our patients.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and manage clinical pharmacy services in gastroenterology, working closely with our multidisciplinary team.
- Provide expert clinical pharmacy input to patient care, including interface and discharge liaison and support.
- Participate in multidisciplinary ward rounds, delivering high-quality, cost-effective, patient-focused pharmaceutical care.
- Develop and implement local guidelines, protocols, and policies to improve patient care.
- Supervise and train pharmacy staff at ward level, ensuring high standards of practice.
- Provide education and training to healthcare professionals within and outside the Trust.
- Contribute to financial reporting, drug usage, and expenditure forecasting, as well as drug budget management and cost improvement programs.
- Participate in practice and clinical research, audit, and quality improvement initiatives.
- MPharm (Masters Degree) or equivalent qualification.
- Registered Pharmacist with 1 year of competency-assessed and examined professional registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
- Postgraduate Diploma in pharmacy practice or equivalent qualification/experience.
- Specialist clinical knowledge and skills relevant to gastroenterology.
- Experience of working with senior healthcare professionals outside of pharmacy.
- Experience of supervising others, developing protocols and guidelines, and participating in multidisciplinary team working.
- Ability to provide complex information on medicines use, clinical pharmacy, and financial issues to all levels of healthcare professionals.
- Able to implement and manage change, work well under pressure, and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Registered independent prescriber or willingness to complete.
- Problem-solving skills, ability to motivate self and others, and influence junior medical staff and the multidisciplinary team.
- Member of the RPS faculty and demonstration of advanced practice using evidence mapped to the RPS Advanced Practice Framework.
