About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Speech and Language Therapist to join our Community Learning Disability Team at Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust. As a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient-focused care and treatment to individuals with learning disabilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide highly specialist assessment and management of complex communication and swallowing difficulties in adults with learning disabilities.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans, taking into account the unique needs and goals of each service user.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, including healthcare professionals, social workers, and family members, to ensure comprehensive care and support.
  • Conduct regular assessments and evaluations to monitor progress and adjust treatment plans as needed.
  • Provide training and education to service users, families, and caregivers on communication and swallowing strategies.
  • Participate in audit and research projects to improve service delivery and outcomes.
Requirements
  • Recognized degree in Speech and Language Therapy, Registered with HCPC.
  • Significant post-qualification experience in working with adults with learning disabilities.
  • Experience in carrying out highly specialist communication and swallowing assessments and intervention.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Highly developed analytical, evaluation, and reflection skills, with the ability to make informed decisions.
