Job Title: Highly Specialist Speech Therapist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Speech Therapist to join our Community Learning Disability Team. The successful candidate will work with adults with learning disabilities who present with communication and/or swallowing difficulties.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide highly specialist assessment and management of complex dysphagia
  • Develop and implement appropriate interventions or rehabilitation in community settings
  • Apply specialist knowledge and skills to implement high and low technology alternative and augmentative communication aids
  • Provide training and education packages to individuals, families, and care providers
  • Contribute to multidisciplinary meetings and other meetings as appropriate
Requirements:
  • Recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy, Registered with HCPC
  • Significant post-qualification experience in working with adults with learning disabilities
  • Experience of carrying out highly specialist communication and swallowing assessments and intervention
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including observation, motivating, listening, empathy, and counseling skills
