Speech and Language Therapist Opportunity

We are seeking a qualified Speech and Language Therapist to join our team at a specialist school for pupils with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND).

About the Role

As a Speech and Language Therapist, you will work across 3 school sites in Brent, planning and delivering effective therapy programmes for pupils aged. You will liaise with colleagues and external professionals, as well as working closely with families. Your role will also include planning and delivering whole-staff therapeutic training.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, resource, and prepare therapy programmes for pupils with varying needs
  • Liaise with colleagues, external professionals, and families to ensure effective support
  • Deliver whole-staff therapeutic training to enhance staff knowledge and skills
  • Support the successful operation of the school, as directed by the senior leadership team

About the School

The school is a large specialist SEND school based in Brent, catering for children and young people with special educational needs and/or disabilities. All pupils have an education, health, and care plan, and most have severe or profound needs. Many have additional needs, such as medical conditions or are on the autistic spectrum.

Requirements

  • HCPC registration as a Speech and Language Therapist
  • Outstanding knowledge and understanding of speech and language therapy and wider therapies
  • Understanding of mental health in children, adverse childhood experiences, trauma, and the impact of abuse and mental health difficulties on child development, attachment, and behaviour
  • Understanding of child development, learning, and children with SEND
  • Understanding of relevant policies, codes of practice, and awareness of relevant legislation
