About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Speech and Language Therapist to join our Community Learning Disability Team at Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust. As a Clinical Specialist in Communication and Swallowing, you will work with adults with learning disabilities who present with complex communication and swallowing difficulties.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and manage complex dysphagia in adults with learning disabilities
  • Develop and implement highly specialist communication and swallowing interventions
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement care plans
  • Provide training and education to service users, carers, and healthcare professionals
  • Contribute to the development of the speech and language therapy service
Requirements
  • Recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy, Registered with HCPC
  • Significant post-qualification experience in working with adults with learning disabilities
  • Experience of carrying out highly specialist communication and swallowing assessments and interventions
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including observation, motivating, listening, empathy, and counseling skills
  • Highly developed negotiation, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills
