About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Speech and Language Therapist to join our Community Learning Disability Team. The successful candidate will work with individuals, families, and carers to provide highly specialist assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of communication and swallowing disorders in adults with learning disabilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of communication and swallowing difficulties in adults with learning disabilities
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans to improve communication and swallowing skills
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless care and support for individuals
  • Provide training and education to families, carers, and other healthcare professionals on communication and swallowing disorders
  • Contribute to the development of the service and participate in audit and research projects
Requirements
  • Recognized degree in Speech and Language Therapy, Registered with HCPC
  • Significant post-qualification experience in working with adults with learning disabilities
  • Experience of carrying out highly specialist communication and swallowing assessments and intervention
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team
