Specialist Support Worker for Speech and Language Development
13 hours ago
A supportive environment that values the contribution of its SEN staff is essential for individuals who want to make a meaningful difference in the lives of students with communication challenges.
The role of Specialist Learning Assistant at Wayman Learning Trust involves providing 1:1 and small group support to students with speech and language difficulties, assisting them in developing communication skills.
This includes working closely with speech and language therapists, SENCOs, and teachers to implement tailored learning plans and interventions. Additionally, adapting classroom activities and materials to meet the specific speech and language needs of students is crucial.
As a Specialist Learning Assistant, you will also be responsible for monitoring and recording student progress, providing regular feedback to teachers, SENCOs, and parents, and supporting students in building confidence in both verbal and non-verbal communication.
The ideal candidate will have experience working with students with speech and language difficulties in a school or educational setting, knowledge of speech and language development, and relevant SEN strategies.
A patient, nurturing approach with strong interpersonal skills to support students' communication needs is essential. Furthermore, the ability to work effectively as part of a team, collaborating with teachers, therapists, and parents, is vital.
We offer a competitive salary of £28,000 - £33,000 per annum, depending on experience, as well as opportunities for professional development and training in speech and language support.
