This is an exciting opportunity to join a newly commissioned Offender Personality Disorder (OPD) Service, which provides an innovative and comprehensive pathway for men with personality disorders within the criminal justice system. The service offers an OPD outreach service to men within HMP High Down and a specialist residential Psychologically Informed Planned Environment (PIPE) unit for men with learning disabilities.
As a Support Rehabilitation Specialist, you will be part of a dynamic and multidisciplinary team, working closely with Psychologists, Neurodiversity Practitioners, Occupational Therapists, a Speech & Language Therapist, Prison Officers, and an Advanced Lived Experience Practitioner. Your role will be to provide high-quality support and rehabilitation to individuals with personality disorders, helping them to develop the skills and knowledge needed to live independently and achieve their full potential.
The Offender Personality Disorder Service is part of the London Pathways Partnership (LPP), a consortium of 5 NHS Trusts working in partnership to deliver integrated services to complex and high-risk service users in London and the Southeast. The LPP is committed to providing a supported prison-to-community pathway, ensuring that individuals receive seamless care and support throughout their journey.
As a Support Rehabilitation Specialist, you will have the opportunity to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, contributing to the development and delivery of innovative services that make a real difference to people's lives. You will be supported by a comprehensive training and development programme, which includes accredited supervision in specialist therapies provision.
The role requires a compassionate and enthusiastic individual with a commitment to promoting healthy functioning in people with personality disorders. You will need to be able to act calmly in emergencies and respond in a professional manner to stressful and challenging behaviour.
We are looking for someone who is passionate about delivering high-quality care and support, committed to the values of the NHS and the LPP, and eager to make a positive contribution to the lives of individuals with personality disorders.
Key Responsibilities
• To support the PIPE team in the organisation and facilitation of groups and creative sessions
• To attend and participate in relevant multi-disciplinary meetings, including formulation meetings
• To support the day-to-day running of the PIPE, completing relevant organisational and administration tasks
• To support referrals to the PIPE service by conducting assessment interviews of potential new residents
• To contribute to the writing of reports on residents within the service, where appropriate and in agreement with the resident
• To support psychological staff in service review through collection of outcome measures, including questionnaires and resident self-report
• To maintain adequate records as required by existing procedures, entering appropriate details on the service user's case notes as necessary
• To undertake other duties as may be determined from time to time within the general scope of the post
• To report regularly to qualified staff
• To be up to date with both de-escalation, physical breakaway, and PMVA techniques appropriate to the service environment
Person Specification
• NVQ Level 3 or 4 or demonstrable equivalent in health or social care
• Experience of mental health services (as a worker, service user, or carer)
