Job Overview

Southern Water is seeking a proactive Health and Safety Advisor to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, lead investigations, and provide expert advice across various teams. The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring performance, conducting site inspections, and supporting managers with practical guidance to maintain the highest safety standards.

The role involves delivering and monitoring performance against Safety, Health, and Wellbeing strategy and objectives, as well as providing expert health and safety advice to ensure compliance with legislation and best practices. Site inspections, hazard management, and root cause investigations are also key responsibilities of the position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver and monitor performance against Safety, Health, and Wellbeing strategy and objectives
  • Provide expert health and safety advice, ensuring compliance with legislation and best practices
  • Lead site inspections, hazard management, and root cause investigations
  • Offer practical coaching to managers to enhance their ability to monitor compliance
  • Provide technical advice in high-risk areas such as chemical storage and Toxic Gas

Requirements

  • In-depth knowledge of health and safety legislation, industry best practices, and their practical application
  • Experience in an advisory capacity, ideally within utilities, facilities, construction, or critical national infrastructure, with some exposure to process safety
  • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent qualification, along with CertIOSH minimum grading
  • Full UK driving licence required
