Commercial Director

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Commercial Director to lead our commercial function at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our senior leadership team, you will be responsible for providing commercial leadership, strategic direction, and vision to the Trust.
Main Duties of the JobThe successful candidate will have a strong track record of operating at board level in a senior finance or commercial role, ideally within the NHS or a similar environment. You will demonstrate an engaging and inclusive leadership style, with the ability to influence a wide range of internal and external stakeholders to bring about change and service improvements.
Key Responsibilities- Provide commercial leadership and strategic direction to the Trust
- Develop and implement commercial strategies to drive business growth and improvement
- Lead the commercial team and provide coaching and development opportunities
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including NHS Trusts, private sector partners, and other external organisations
- Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and financial reports
- Identify and mitigate commercial risks, and develop strategies to mitigate these risks
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and regulatory requirements
The ideal candidate will have:
- A Master's degree or equivalent in a relevant field
- Relevant professional qualifications, such as an MBA or ACCA
- Proven experience of operating at board level in a senior finance or commercial role
- Strong commercial and business acumen, with the ability to contribute to major strategic programmes
- Excellent leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with stakeholders at all levels
- Ability to think analytically and strategically, with the ability to develop and implement commercial strategies
