Commercial Director

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Commercial Director to lead our commercial function at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our senior leadership team, you will be responsible for providing commercial leadership, strategic advice, and direction to the Trust.
Main Duties of the JobThe successful candidate will have a strong track record of operating at board level in a senior finance or commercial role, ideally within the NHS or a similar environment. You will demonstrate an engaging and inclusive leadership style, with the credibility and gravitas to lead commercial management in a complex acute setting.
Key Responsibilities- Provide commercial leadership and strategic advice to the Trust
- Lead the commercial team and specifically the procurement function
- Support the Trust in delivering an outstanding commercial and procurement service for the benefit of staff and patients
- Develop and implement commercial strategies to maximise opportunities and improve service delivery
- Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to drive commercial success
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience of operating at board level in a senior finance or commercial role
- Strong commercial and business acumen with an ability to contribute to major strategic programmes
- Ability to influence a wide range of internal and external stakeholders to bring about change and service improvements
- Ability to balance the need to manage operationally and think strategically
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to set a clear direction and vision
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
