Job Description:

This is an exciting opportunity to join North Yorkshire Council as a Net Zero Programme Coordinator. You will be working on a transformative programme to develop a strategic energy partnership model for York and North Yorkshire.

About the Role:

As a Net Zero Programme Coordinator, you will play a critical role in the delivery of this programme and in support of our ambition to become operational net zero by 2030. You will work across the strategic pillars of our net zero approach – decarbonising our energy system, moving towards a circular economy and enhancing our natural capital.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the Delivery Manager in the development and delivery of the DESNZ funded, Local Net Zero Accelerator Programme.
  • Provide in-depth support to the Delivery Manager and wider project teams, to develop the project, drafting business cases, reports and attending boards and project group meetings.

This is a fixed term role for 18 months (subject to funding and programme extensions). The successful candidate will hold a degree level or equivalent experience in a relevant subject such as climate change, net zero, renewable energy, or environmental science. They will be organised and have experience of supporting the delivery of projects.

Requirements:
  • A degree level qualification in a relevant subject.
  • Experience of supporting the delivery of projects.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Able to work collaboratively with Local Authorities and other partners.

North Yorkshire Council offers a range of benefits including a generous pension scheme, flexible working arrangements and access to training and development opportunities. The salary for this role is £45,000 - £55,000 per annum, depending on experience.
