Job Summary:

Novax Recruitment is seeking a highly skilled Close Down Accountant to oversee the organisation's closure of accounts process. This is a contract with a scope for extension working full time hours, with mostly remote working opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct resources in producing the statutory Statement of Accounts and other related returns, ensuring compliance with regulations.
  • Deliver financial training to staff on accounting requirements and standards, including VAT, to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
  • Develop and implement strategies to ensure compliance with VAT regulations, reporting matters to the S151 Officer.
  • Manage the Asset Accounting process and reporting regimes, ensuring compliance with emerging new standards, such as IFRS16 leases.
  • Create and monitor frameworks of performance measures and quality standards to be applied in the delivery of services.

Requirements:

  • Fully qualified CCAB Accountant with experience working in a complex organisation.
  • Extensive experience and knowledge of VAT, its application and implications on courses of action.
  • Substantial managerial experience and skills gained at a senior level, including contributing to the corporate management of an organisation.
  • Proven track record of establishing and managing partnerships/external stakeholder relationships.
  • Experience working in a similar capacity for a local authority is desirable.
