Job description

**Senior Adviser: Senior Adviser - Penwith Moors and Downs SSSI**

Area teams must also carry out our statutory duties and services, with a strong focus on customer service and risk-based decision making.

**Key tasks and accountabilities**:

- To bring and use skills and knowledge of heathland and wetland habitats and farming systems to deliver nature recovery at a landscape scale, including working with land managers in bringing sites of special scientific interest (SSSIs) into favourable
- To support the team in the direct delivery of nature recovery, helping them find practical and long
- lasting solutions to complex and contentious farming You will do this by sharing your knowledge of relevant species / habitats or grazing knowledge.
- To build strong and productive relationships with key external stakeholders and partners, including landowners, farmers, Cornwall Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), Environment Agency, National Farmers Union (NFU), Country Land and Business Association (CLA) and other Non-Governmental
- To take personal ownership of high risk and high-profile issues to manage risk and leverage opportunities.
- To demonstrate leadership in functionally managing staff ensuring focus is maintained on securing those interventions where we can make most impact for nature recovery.
- To establish and oversee delivery of a strong project plan that directs our priorities and work in West Penwith.
- To be an active member of Natural England’s networks supporting delivery of our farm advice, protected sites and nature recovery This will involve developing strong and productive relationships with the relevant national teams and sharing key messages to the wider team.
- To act in a coordinating capacity for the various strands of the Area Team's work in West Penwith, including working closely with our farm advice, protected sites and landscape staff.
