Data Engineering Director for Sports and Entertainment

In this role, you'll be a proven leader, creative thinker, utilizing data, machine learning, and software development skills to craft solutions that drive growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a squad of sports modellers as they develop, test, and deploy sports models and applications to production.
  • Take ownership of designing, developing, maintaining, and testing sports models.
  • Collaborate with business leads across Sportsbook and Engineering to define milestones and deliverables for new sports models or enhancements.
  • Contribute to architecture and design of DS projects and strategic initiatives, focusing on quality, stability, and efficiency.
  • Mentor and lead design and knowledge transfer sessions, ensuring engineers deliver high-quality work.

Requirements

  • You have experience leading a data science or quantitative analytics team, overseeing all technical aspects of projects.
  • You're highly proficient in at least one programming language, ideally Python, with a strong understanding of object-oriented principles.
  • You've built sports models in a previous role or as a passion project.
  • You have experience with AWS services and infrastructure, including AWS ML tools.
  • You're familiar with DevOps flows, such as containerization and monitoring.
  • Kubernetes and Kafka experience is highly desirable.
  • You have an understanding of Sportsbook products.
  • You possess excellent communication and organizational skills, able to articulate key business information effectively.
  • You hold a PhD, Master's, or Bachelor's degree in STEM fields.
  • You have a keen interest in sports.

The estimated salary for this role is $170,000-$220,000 per year, based on industry standards and location.
