Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Public Health Communications Specialist to join our team at the NHS Business Services Authority. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced communications professional to make a difference in the delivery of our business strategy.

The ideal candidate will have significant experience of working with senior managers on a wide range of communications, including digital engagement, media handling, proactive PR, marketing, campaigning, communications strategy and evaluation. They will also have experience of delivering behaviour change campaigns and using data and insight for evaluation.

This role involves developing and maintaining excellent working relationships with the Communications team at the Department of Health and Social Care and other arms-length bodies. The successful candidate will act as a business partner to specific service areas, working collaboratively with senior management teams to understand their communications challenges and develop innovative solutions that benefit the business and the customer.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Developing and implementing high-quality external communications campaigns using the Government Communication Service OASIS model to influence demand and behaviour change.
  • Ensuring communications activity uses data and insight to understand what customers need, how they behave, and how to change behaviour.
  • Managing crisis communications for service areas and working across the organisation to ensure messages are reflected internally and externally as appropriate.

Requirements:

  • Postgraduate qualification in a relevant subject area.
  • Significant experience of creating and delivering communications plans and developing media strategies and protocols.
  • Excellent specialist media handling skills, including experience in handling high-profile, complex, sensitive issues with potential to damage reputation.

Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 per annum.
