Main Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will have demonstrable experience of working as a diabetes specialist nurse, with a strong clinical background and excellent interpersonal skills. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Working as an autonomous practitioner to deliver expert nursing services within diabetes
  • Managing patient caseloads and ensuring patients and their families are fully informed and supported
  • Developing evidence-based clinical nursing practice in line with current research and guidelines
  • Collaborating with colleagues and establishing clear lines of communication with primary healthcare
  • Participating in research and audit initiatives

Person Specification

The successful candidate will possess:

  • A Level 1 NMC Adult Registered Nurse qualification
  • Relevant post-registration qualification
  • One of the following: Diabetes Diploma/certificate, Non-Medical Independent Prescriber, teaching qualification, or equivalent expert experience

Desirable criteria include experience of managing diabetes in specialist clinics, DAFNE qualification, mentorship qualification, and counselling qualification.
