Pontypridd, Rhondda Cynon Taf, United Kingdom Transport for Wales Full time

Equal Opportunities

At Transport for Wales, we embrace diversity. It strengthens our organization, enhances our understanding of our customers, and fosters better decision-making and innovation. Each individual brings a unique perspective, and we are committed to building a diverse team that reflects the communities we serve. Our goal is to be one of Wales' foremost inclusive employers, creating a transport network that everyone can take pride in.

Who we are

At Transport for Wales, we are dedicated to revolutionizing transport in Wales, making it suitable for the future—whether it involves rail, bus, walking, or cycling. Our mission is to inspire a nation to alter their travel habits, promoting sustainable travel and addressing the climate emergency we all face.

We cultivate an open and inclusive workplace where everyone is welcomed, and our employees are encouraged to reach their full potential. Creating an environment that fosters growth and success is essential for us to fulfill our commitments to the people of Wales, building a sustainable transport network that meets their needs.

Role responsibilities

The Sourcing Specialist will assist the Procurement team and the broader Transport for Wales (TfW) team in providing an efficient and effective procurement and contracting service that aligns with TfW's objectives.

Offer guidance and expertise across the organization and to relevant stakeholders regarding suitable market engagement strategies and supplier interaction requirements, ensuring all procurement activities comply with the Sustainable Procurement and Supply Chain Policy, processes, procedures, and legislation. Aid in the daily management and execution of a diverse range of procurement and commercial activities, policies, processes, and systems, keeping all stakeholders informed of progress and tasks, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring adherence to correct processes and delegations, enabling TfW to meet its business requirements and project outcomes. Conduct all procurement activities in accordance with TfW processes, procedures, policies, and relevant guidelines, ensuring compliance with changes and best practices, including sustainable procurement opportunities, to achieve TfW and Welsh Government policy objectives. Accurately complete all necessary procurement documentation and regularly monitor and maintain records and registers, including those related to change control and justification for any deviations from the compliant process, to provide a clear and precise audit trail of all activities.

Who we're looking for

Proven experience in a procurement and/or commercial role or function. Experience in supporting and facilitating the procurement lifecycle. Ability to quickly grasp the commercial and procurement needs of various business areas, identifying and mitigating project risks and issues, and effectively supporting teams to achieve their objectives. Previous experience in building and managing relationships and collaborating with stakeholders to deliver a range of business outcomes on a high-volume basis.

Welsh Language Skills

Proficiency in speaking/writing Welsh would be a valuable asset to your application, though it is not a requirement for this role.

Transport for Wales promotes and supports the use of the Welsh Language among employees and encourages them to develop, enhance, and maintain their Welsh Language skills. We fully support our employees who wish to improve their Welsh language abilities, offering personal development opportunities through various means such as online learning, classroom courses, and funding for local community courses.
