About the Role

Hays Specialist Recruitment Limited is seeking a highly skilled Senior Finance Business Partner to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will play a crucial role in supporting our clients in the engineering and construction industry.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Analysis and Reporting: Examine key financial data for active commercial projects to ensure accounting integrity is upheld at period's end.
  • Data Compilation and Analysis: Gather and compile data from various sources, using analytical tools to provide finance and non-financial managers with a comprehensive analysis.
  • Risk Management and Contract Portfolio: Collaborate with Regional Commercial Directors to manage risk in their project portfolios and assist with bid and tender support.
  • Contract Portfolio Management: Assist Regional Commercial Managers with the external audit of the contract portfolio.
  • Internal Controls and Processes: Manage internal controls, processes, and procedures while collaborating with the financial and commercial departments.
  • Subject Matter Expertise: Serve as the organization's subject matter expert in contract accounting and contribute to system development.
  • Mergers and Acquisitions: Assist with analysis related to M&A activities within the company.
  • Insurance and Compliance: Lead the completion of the yearly insurance questionnaire with the company's insurance broker.
  • Management Information and Performance: Implement and provide enhanced management information, performance, and support for company objectives.
  • Forecasting and Budgeting: Generate management account data in accordance with the allotted amount to assist forecasting and budgeting.
  • Contract Working Capital Reporting: Ensure the accuracy of contract working capital reporting, including projecting weekly contract receipts, aging debtors, challenging aged contract work-in-progress (WIP) regions, and other contract risk areas.
  • Supplier Payments: Raise cash balances on contracts with commercial teams where needed to ensure timely payments to suppliers.
  • Development and Additional Tasks: Oversee ongoing development and perform additional tasks as needed.
  • Relationship Building: Build connections with other key company players.
Requirements
  • Proven Experience: Proven experience in a senior financial role, preferably within the engineering or construction industry.
  • Accounting Qualifications: Relevant accounting qualifications (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA) are highly desirable.
  • Analytical and Leadership Skills: Excellent analytical, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Communication Skills: The ability to communicate complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
