Position Overview

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will collaborate with pharmacists and other healthcare professionals to support the clinical team in various settings, focusing on prescribing practices and medication safety. Your primary objective will be to implement improvements that ensure safe and effective prescribing, ultimately enhancing the quality of patient care.

Proficiency in Welsh is advantageous for this position; however, applications from both English and Welsh speakers are encouraged.

Job Duties

The Medicines Management Technician will provide specialized technical and clinical support to the Head of Prescribing and Medicines Management, Pharmacists, General Practitioners, Community Pharmacists, and other health board members. The aim is to enhance the quality, safety, and cost-effectiveness of prescribing and medicines management across the organization.

Additionally, you will assist the Accountable Officer in overseeing the destruction of Controlled Drugs throughout the health board and its associated contractors.

Qualifications

Required

  • BTEC in Pharmaceutical Science or equivalent (NVQ Level III in Pharmaceutical Services)
  • Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)

Preferred

  • Additional management or clinical qualifications

Experience

Required

  • Minimum of 3 years of post-qualification experience

Preferred

  • Experience in community pharmacy, health board, or primary care settings

Skills

Required

  • Proficiency in utilizing information technology, including word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, and database management (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
