Domestic Violence Advocate

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Hospital Independent Domestic and Sexual Violence Advocate to join our team in London. As a key member of our team, you will provide critical support to victims of domestic and sexual abuse, working closely with healthcare professionals and other agencies to ensure the best possible outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality, front-line support to victims of domestic and sexual abuse, working in a hybrid model of face-to-face and virtual support.
- Implement effective ways of working with victims to increase safety and reduce harm.
- Work within a multi-agency framework, including the MARAC and local partnership responses to domestic and sexual abuse.
- Run group training sessions and share specialist knowledge with acute staff across the hospital.
Requirements:
- Knowledge of help-seeking barriers and support needs of victims of domestic and sexual abuse.
- Understanding of domestic and sexual abuse and its impact.
- Knowledge of risk assessment, safety planning, and risk management.
- Understanding of safeguarding issues and legal responsibilities surrounding these issues.
- Experience of direct service delivery to vulnerable people.
- Good communication, negotiation, and advocacy skills, both written and verbal, able to interact with a range of agencies and individuals.
- Strong crisis management skills and ability to deal with stressful and difficult situations.
