About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Compliance Counsel to join our team at Snap Group Limited. As a key member of our legal department, you will play a critical role in advising on privacy and digital platform law compliance in the EMEA region.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Advise on Privacy and Digital Platform Laws: Ensure Snap Group Limited is advised on privacy and digital platform laws, focusing on laws such as the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the ePrivacy Directive, Digital Services Act (DSA), and other European consumer laws.
  2. Drive High-Profile Initiatives: Drive high-profile and high-impact privacy and digital platform initiatives across the company, involving cross-functional business and legal stakeholders.
  3. Anticipate and Prepare for Regulatory Changes: Anticipate and prepare for data protection and digital platform law changes in the EMEA regulatory and legislative landscape.
  4. Partner with Global Policy Team: Partner with Snap's global Policy team to interact with EMEA regulators to ensure Snap's program, policies, and practices to comply with privacy and digital platform laws are well-understood.
  5. Provide Guidance on Compliance Programs: Provide guidance to colleagues on managing Snap's and its affiliates' GDPR, DSA, and other digital platform compliance programs.
  6. Partner with Product Counsel: Partner with Product Counsel on sophisticated privacy and digital platform law issues as our products and services evolve.
  7. Improve Privacy Requirements: Help continue to improve over time Snap's privacy, safety, and security-by-design requirements, working closely with Snap's Privacy, Safety Engineering, and Security teams.
  8. Analyze Risks and Requirements: Analyze risks and requirements, as well as assist in drafting descriptions for new products and technologies.
  9. Conduct Law Reviews and Impact Assessments: Conduct privacy and digital platform law reviews, impact assessments, and integration plans for potential acquisitions and partnerships.
  10. Lead Legislative Analysis: Lead all aspects of and analyze proposed, pending, and new global privacy and digital platform legislation that could impact the business and recommend any potential or vital modifications to practices, as well as advise the Policy team on lobbying priorities.
  11. Develop and Conduct Training: Develop and conduct privacy and digital platform law training for teams across the company.
Requirements
  1. Experience in Global Privacy and Digital Platform Law: Solid experience advising on global privacy and digital platform law issues.
  2. Knowledge of Global Laws and Regulations: Good knowledge of global privacy and digital platform laws, regulations, and industry guidelines for ecommerce, ad tech, and Internet companies, and the processes followed by government/regulatory bodies to develop them, especially in the EMEA region.
  3. In-House or Law Firm Experience: In-house experience or law firm experience counseling clients on international privacy and digital platform law matters.
  4. Excellent Legal and Business Judgment: Excellent legal and business judgment and critical thinking.
  5. Ability to Travel: Ability to travel, especially between Snap European offices.
  6. Master's Degree or Equivalent: Master's degree or equivalent.
  7. Years of Experience: 6+ years of experience practicing law, including at least 3+ years of practice in an international setting.
  8. Language Skills: Ability to speak fluently at least one European language.
