Job Opportunity
Newcastle College is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to fill the role of Academic in Building Services. This position involves delivering and assessing high-quality learning programs in building services and general construction across various levels of further education, higher education, and/or apprenticeship provision.
Main Responsibilities
- Deliver and assess learning programs in building services and general construction
- Undertake program leadership, tutorial, and program administration duties
- Develop and implement effective teaching and assessment strategies
- Contribute to the development of curriculum and program materials
- Collaborate with colleagues to ensure high-quality learning experiences
Requirements
- Strong background in building services or electrical maintenance
- Proven track record of professional/vocational expertise in the domestic or commercial construction and built environment sector
- Minimum level 3 electrical qualification or industry-recognised standard in a relevant field
- Post-16 teaching qualification and English and maths qualifications at level 2
- Experience in effective program leadership in FE, HE, and/or Apprenticeships
- Proven track record of successful teaching and assessment practice
Desirable Skills
- Ability to self-manage workload and meet deadlines
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Good IT skills
