Position Overview

We are looking for a Band 8a Clinical or Counselling Psychologist to become an integral part of our dynamic outpatient EWMHS (previously CAMHS) team in Redbridge. This permanent role is ideal for a psychologist who is deeply committed to enhancing the mental health and wellbeing of young individuals through high-quality interventions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver a comprehensive and specialized psychological service for children and adolescents facing emotional and mental health challenges, along with their families.
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary assessments and treatment plans for young clients and their caregivers.
  • Conduct specialized clinical work, including urgent assessments and parenting support.
  • Provide expert supervision and consultation on CYPMHS cases to other multi-disciplinary team members.
  • Engage in audit and research activities to enhance service delivery.
  • Monitor treatment outcomes using standardized measures associated with CYP-IAPT.
  • Adhere to the policies and procedures of CYPMHS and the Trust while utilizing supervision in clinical practice.

Induction and Support

New employees will receive a thorough induction process that includes mandatory training and opportunities to meet with senior management. This ensures a smooth transition into our organization.

Probationary Period

This position is subject to a probationary period, with exemptions for internal applicants under certain conditions.

Compensation

The role includes a High-Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary, with a minimum payment of £4,313 and a maximum of £5,436 per annum, pro rata.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential Criteria:

  • Eligibility for registration as a full member of the relevant professional body (HCPC, BACP, UKCP, AFT, ACP).
  • Completion of post-graduate training in psychological practice.
  • Extensive experience working with children and young people with complex mental health needs.
  • Experience in conducting assessments within a multi-disciplinary team.

Knowledge Requirements

Essential Criteria:

  • In-depth understanding of clinical interventions in CAMHS/EWMHS.
  • Familiarity with safeguarding legislation and procedures.
  • Knowledge of NHS, Social Care, and Education frameworks and evidence-based practices.
