Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Engineer to join our team at King's College Hospital. This is a fixed-term opportunity to develop and work across all aspects of the Clinical Engineering service, providing technical support to ensure that medical devices are managed and maintained to a high standard.

Main Duties
  • Develop and maintain accurate asset records, creating customised reports detailing equipment service history and leading inventory audits across the Trust.
  • Provide technical input to all aspects of medical equipment governance across the equipment life-cycle, including the planning and delivery of medical equipment procurement projects, establishing preventative maintenance levels, investigating safety related incidents, actioning safety alerts, and assessing risks associated with the use of medical devices in research.
  • Collaborate with end users and suppliers to capture clinical and technical aspects of equipment specifications, and inform users of reasons for faults/incidents involving medical devices, the action taken and how to avoid re-occurrence.
  • Assess risks relating to the use of medical equipment and recommend mitigations, and keep abreast of scientific, technical and clinical developments that relate to medical equipment through a formal CPD scheme.
Person Specification
  • Educated to degree/NVQ Level 6 in a relevant subject, or extensive knowledge, skills and experience in the field of equipment management and support.
  • Expert knowledge of clinical, scientific and engineering aspects of a wide range of medical equipment, and experience of creating reports from relational databases.
  • Working knowledge of all Microsoft Office packages, and able to assimilate, analyse and present complex data.
  • High level of planning and organisational skills with a flexible and adaptable approach, and able to negotiate issues of a technical and commercial nature.
