Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Waste Management Specialist to join our team at Rullion Ltd.

This is a permanent vacancy that requires a Characterisation Lead with a strong background in nuclear decommissioning.

The successful candidate will have a degree in a scientific or engineering-based subject and/or relevant experience in the field of nuclear decommissioning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Take on responsibility with a can-do attitude and use initiative to prioritise work effectively under pressure.
  • Multitask and re-prioritise to meet changing needs and project deadlines in a team environment.
  • Be involved in stakeholder management across different technical disciplines.
  • Produce technical documents to a high standard.
  • Interpret and critically evaluate Health Physics data as it relates to waste characterisation projects and surveying/sampling campaigns.

Requirements:

  • Degree in a scientific or engineering-based subject and/or relevant experience in the field of nuclear decommissioning.
  • Knowledge of radiological sampling technical requirements to include DQO methodology and sampling plans.
  • Practical knowledge of the characterisation lifecycle including sampling methods, preservation of radionuclides prior to analysis as well as storage, chain of custody and data requirements for consignment of samples offsite.
  • Knowledge of radiochemical analysis results to include high-level assessment to of likely errors.
  • Able to obtain SC clearance.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of characterisation for non-radiological contaminants (to include asbestos) to include interpretation of surveying and sampling data.
  • Experience in the transport of dangerous goods and/or a DGSA qualification.
