Job Summary

GE Aviation is seeking a highly skilled Software Development Engineer to join our team in Rugby. As a Software Development Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing cutting-edge software solutions for our Power Conversion business.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work on challenging projects that will help drive the transition to energy efficiency and decarbonization. You will be part of a dynamic team that utilizes software skills to develop innovative solutions for our VISOR range of Remote monitoring, Engineering and HMI Operator Interface products and systems.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Software Development
  • Design, develop, and test Windows-based applications and services for the GE Aviation VISOR product range.
  • Collaborate with Product Leadership to determine customer needs and transform those needs into next-generation control and communication products that are cloud connected.
Technical Leadership
  • Provide technical leadership of software components and ensure that products meet required specifications.
  • Work closely with other teams within the company to ensure seamless integration and delivery of products.
Documentation and Communication
  • Write technical documentation, including user manuals, software design, and test specifications.
  • Communicate effectively with internal customers to capture requirements, create mock-ups and prototypes, and provide technical advisory.

Requirements

  1. Technical Skills
  • Working experience designing and writing multi-threaded object-oriented software in C++ and/or C#.
  • Familiarity with modern commercial software development paradigms (microservices, testing in isolation, integration).
Education and Experience
  • A relevant degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related technical field of study.
  • Significant relevant experience gained in a professional engineering environment.
Soft Skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with technical leadership and accountability for designs and decision-making.
