Key Responsibilities:

  • As a PLC/SCADA Engineer, you will play a vital role in the Industrial Control & Information Systems department, supporting operations across the UK.
  • Your primary responsibilities will include the design, programming, and commissioning of PLCs and SCADA/HMI systems integral to Veolia's Plant Management Systems.
  • Interpret control system specifications to perform programming tasks and develop detailed software specifications.
  • Analyze P&ID and related plant drawings to create graphical designs for SCADA and HMI interfaces.
  • Engage in software design, programming, and testing of PLCs, particularly Allen Bradley CompactLogix and SLC series, utilizing RSLogix 500 and 5000 software.
  • Design and program SCADA systems using platforms such as Rockwell RSView32 and FTView SE, as well as ICONICS.
  • Develop HMI systems with Rockwell PanelView and Fanuc technologies.
  • Conduct pre-commissioning and factory acceptance testing of PLC & SCADA/HMI systems.
  • Perform functional commissioning and site acceptance testing, including checks and modifications of field instrumentation and control panels.
  • Compile and manage associated data and documentation for configuration and commissioning systems.
  • Provide training and handover activities for PLC & SCADA/HMI systems.
  • Deliver technical support by diagnosing PLC and SCADA issues and implementing corrective measures.
  • Identify cost-effective enhancements to improve efficiency and productivity.
  • Validate metering and instrumentation configurations and readings.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while also being self-sufficient.
  • Technical assistance to colleagues as needed.
  • Adherence to safety protocols and Permit to Work systems, with the ability to compile RAMS.
  • Professional conduct in all activities, following company procedures.
  • Timely completion of administrative tasks and accurate maintenance of necessary documentation.
  • Valid driving license and willingness to travel as required.
  • Availability to work on-site and stay overnight as necessary.
  • Experience with Allen Bradley SLC, MicroLogix, and CompactLogix PLCs, as well as RSView32 and FTViewSE SCADA systems.
  • Familiarity with PID control principles.
  • Proficiency in interpreting specifications, flow charts, PFDs, and P&IDs.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience with the systems mentioned.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • A degree in Instrumentation & Control Engineering or a related field is essential.
