GE Aviation's Power Conversion business is a world leader in developing and maintaining electrification systems for high-performance applications. We are seeking an experienced control engineer to join our team of experts in a role that combines engineering skills with software implementation.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Develop and implement control algorithms for controlling vessel movement.
  2. Design and generate simulation environments to validate the control algorithms.
  3. Identify and propose new developments to enhance the Dynamic Positioning product.
  4. Support other teams in new product introduction, customer tenders, and projects.
  5. Stay up-to-date with key technical developments and trends in the Dynamic Positioning industry and competitor capabilities.

Main Tasks

  1. Specify and implement new developments to expand the capability of the existing DP System and associated tools.
  2. Modernize and port existing functionality to new platforms and/or operating systems as required.
  3. Investigate issues reported on vessels in operation and provide support for DP project, commissioning, and service teams worldwide.

Requirements

  1. Proven experience in automation/control or a similar technical discipline.
  2. Ability to develop control models and simulations within MATLAB/Simulink.
  3. Strong mathematical capabilities.
  4. Effective communication with stakeholders of varying levels of technical expertise.
  5. Support business development by presenting the technical capability of the company and technical case for solutions offered.
  6. Ability to multi-task on a variety of projects to strict timescales.
  7. Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.

Additional Information

Occasional travel to customer or other GE development locations may be required.
