Senior Child Welfare Specialist

Position Overview
This role is a temporary position to provide coverage during maternity leave.
The successful candidate will join the Residential Team at East Dunbartonshire Council, delivering exceptional residential support to children and young individuals who require care away from their homes.
The role also includes conducting Outreach initiatives within the community, which involves assisting young individuals and their families while they remain in their home environment. The candidate will be responsible for coordinating outreach activities.
In this position, the individual will oversee staff and assist the management team in guiding the Residential Team.
Collaboration with families, social services, educational institutions, and health professionals is essential to support children and young people, promoting their welfare and development in alignment with best practices.
The candidate will contribute to the ongoing success and enhancement of East Dunbartonshire Council's Residential Services and Outreach Programs, participate in inspections, and maintain high standards of practice.
A flexible working schedule is in place, requiring coverage across various shifts, including day, evening, night, and sleepover duties during emergencies. Additionally, participation in the out-of-hours on-call rota is expected, alongside the senior management team. There may also be occasional requirements to work outside of standard hours or on weekends based on service needs.
The ideal candidate will possess a professional qualification in Social Work at SVQ4 level or equivalent relevant experience, with a commitment to pursuing any necessary qualifications as mandated by the SSSC. A HNC in Social Care or equivalent qualifications and SVQ3 are also required.

Compliance and Commitment
All roles within East Dunbartonshire Council necessitate compliance with PVG/Disclosure checks. Candidates applying for positions classified as Regulated Work under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check prior to employment confirmation.
Successful candidates will be responsible for the associated costs of the relevant checks, which will be deducted from their initial salary payment.
In specific cases, payments may be arranged in installments following employment commencement, subject to HR Services Lead approval.
Should an employee depart before the payment is fully deducted, the remaining balance will be deducted from their final salary.
