Position Overview

This role is a temporary position to provide coverage during maternity leave.

The successful candidate will join the Residential Team at East Dunbartonshire Council, focusing on delivering exceptional residential support to children and young individuals who require care away from their families.

The temporary staff member will also engage in community Outreach initiatives, assisting young people and their families while they remain in their home environments. Responsibilities will include coordinating outreach efforts effectively.

In this role, the individual will oversee staff members and collaborate with the manager to guide the team effectively.

Working closely with families, social services, educational institutions, and healthcare providers, the temporary post holder will aim to enhance the welfare and development of children and young people, ensuring the best possible outcomes in alignment with the 'Getting It Right For Every Child' framework and the SHANARRI principles.

The individual will play a vital role in the ongoing success and enhancement of both the Residential Services and Outreach initiatives, participating in inspections and maintaining high standards of practice.

A flexible work schedule is in place, requiring coverage across a 5/7 rota that accommodates holidays, training, and outings. The role may involve day, evening, night shifts, and sleepover duties during emergencies, as well as participation in the out-of-hours on-call rota alongside senior management. There may also be occasions requiring work outside of standard hours or on weekends, depending on service needs.

The ideal candidate will possess a professional Social Work qualification at SVQ4 or equivalent relevant experience, along with a commitment to pursue any necessary qualifications as stipulated by the SSSC. Additionally, candidates should hold an HNC in Social Care or equivalent qualifications and SVQ3.
